My recent stay at the Best Western Corpus Christi Airport Hotel had its ups and downs. While the complimentary breakfast was a definite highlight, several issues detracted from the overall experience. Let's start with the positives: the breakfast was consistently good throughout my stay. I appreciated the variety of proteins offered daily, and while scrambled eggs were a staple, the chorizo picadillo was an absolute standout – easily one of the best hotel breakfast items I've ever had. The bacon was also quite tasty. The coffee from the dining room was also good. TAMMY is the absolute best!! Tammy helped us get settled in and went far and beyond for us making us feel at home. She aknowledged me being a best western diamond select member, gave me helpful information about the hotel and its layout, also about their social hour on Wednsdays and even the current promotion of Best Western that is running for this Summer where you stay 3 nights to get $50 off (10,000 points)a future stay, which made me decide to book more days and enjoy staying a few extra nights out there in Corpus. Tammy also tried to make the guests there feel welcome and was always on top of things. However, there were several areas where the hotel fell short. The middle door leading out to the parking lot was problematic, with constant water dripping from above and an overflowing, foul-smelling garbage can nearby on the first day of my stay. This created an unpleasant first impression each time I exited. Inside, the single elevator was notably slow-ish, leading to occasional delays. The fitness center, unfortunately, had several issues. There was a consistent lack of towels, both in the gym area and by the pool. More concerning was the treadmill machine, which had a power cord "fixed" with tape. This temporary repair proved insufficient, as the machine would shut down when the incline setting was used. This is not only inconvenient, requiring guests to troubleshoot themselves, but also a potential safety concern. A proper replacement of the cord or the machine itself is clearly needed. Additionally, the 10 lbs and 5 lbs weights were missing from the rack and nowhere to be found in the room. A significant inconvenience was the pool bathroom being out of service for my entire stay. This meant having to trek back inside the main hotel building to use the restroom or change out of wet clothes, which was quite inconvenient when enjoying the pool area. In summary, while the Best Western Corpus Christi Airport Hotel offers a fantastic breakfast, the numerous maintenance issues, including the out-of-service pool bathroom, the problematic parking lot door, slow elevator, and particularly the dysfunctional fitness center equipment and lack of amenities like towels and weights, need to be addressed to provide a more comfortable and functional experience for guests.
