I booked this hotel because of what I perceived as a great hotel for someone with mobility challenges. When I booked, I noticed that the hotel had step-in showers which is a top priority of mine. Although the room was presented as being handicapped accessible, it was on the 5th floor, thus making it especially difficult to get to the exits in the event of a fire. The walk-in shower doors only opened on one side, making it impossible to turn on the water without first stepping into the shower. The shower had no grab bars, nor did the toilet which was very short and caused difficulty in standing back up. The beds were very high and difficult to get into. On the plus side, the staff was very nice, the check-in and check-out were easy, the pool and fitness facilities were very good, and the location was excellent.

“Not very handicapped informed”

Once again a major hotel chain has let us down. We are at a Four Points by Sheraton/Marriott. The reservation clerks and desk clerks have never seen the inside of their handicap rooms. All they can see on the computer is the designation “handicapped” and they assume it has everything I ask about. N… more

Once again a major hotel chain has let us down. We are at a Four Points by Sheraton/Marriott. The reservation clerks and desk clerks have never seen the inside of their handicap rooms. All they can see on the computer is the designation “handicapped” and they assume it has everything I ask about. No matter how specific and adamant I am when making the reservation, later when confirming and again at the check-in counter, when I say my husband is missing a leg and cannot stand; so He must have a roll-in shower with a chair or bench - no tub. We still get a room with a tub. All the clerk hears is “handicapped” and they ignore the rest. Apparently nowhere in this hotel is there a bathroom with a roll- in shower and a bench. He must slide from his wheelchair to a bench. He cannot step over the side of a tub or get up from the floor and I cannot lift him. So he cannot shower there. The room is clean enough and the clerks are very polite but nevertheless, we will never choose to stay here again although we come to Houston often. I wish they could at least have told us up front that they have no roll-in showers so we could have found another hotel. Why can’t the people who design those hotel rooms consult with a committee of people such as a person who works with the multi-handicapped, a vision impaired person and someone in a wheelchair and take some surveys to determine what we need? This is a big hotel but whomever designed this room has never lived with someone confined to a wheelchair. Very disappointing.

“no valute for money”

we choose to stay at this hotel as it was closed to hospital as it was advertised that there was a shuttle within 5 miles, found out when we go there, shuttle was broke. Hotel Clerk advised that no housekeeping, as room will only be serviced every 3 days. Would understand if this was a budget hot… more

we choose to stay at this hotel as it was closed to hospital as it was advertised that there was a shuttle within 5 miles, found out when we go there, shuttle was broke. Hotel Clerk advised that no housekeeping, as room will only be serviced every 3 days. Would understand if this was a budget hotel that offered limited service, but being apart of the marriott corp chain would expect better and have housekeeping service our room, they also need to advised on website that shuttle is down. Needless to say will move over to the embassy suites
