Located in a rural Vermont area, there are three colonial-style buildings..Nestled in the green mountains of Vermont, while just minutes from Burlington, the hotel combines luxurious country-contemporary accommodations and resort amenities with some of the finest gourmet cooking anywhere in the country. As "Vermont's Culinary Resort", the hotel houses the northernmost campus of the New England Culinary Institute (NECI).
Enjoy American cuisine at The Lazy Goat Tavern, one of the hotel's 2 restaurants, or stay in and take advantage of the room service (during limited hours). Snacks are also available at the coffee shop/cafe. Wrap up your day with a drink at the bar/lounge. Cooked-to-order breakfasts are served on weekdays from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM and on weekends from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a fee.

“Best unique dinner ever”
From making reservations, to being seated and ordering the experience was excellent. Kimberly was a pure joy to talk with and very knowledgeable of the menu. Highly recommend this to everyone.

“Friendly, Fast, and Attentive Service”
Hayleigh at The Tavern provided excellent, prompt service. She was very attentive without being overbearing, and her customer service really stood out. She kept a positive attitude throughout the entire visit and made the experience enjoyable. Definitely someone you want taking care of your table.

The Essex is a nice hotel but over the past year things have gone downhill. Last year the suite was filled with families breaking rules to which the front desk replied “there’s nothing we can do”.
