We spent 3 days at the Holiday Express. Their breakfast had a good variety of options. We found the front desk manager, Raja, to be a fantastic help. He was very nice, helpful, and accommodating. He happily agreed to store our luggage at the hotel before our check-in. He never made us feel like a bother. Likewise, on check out, again he was very nice. He took the time to recommend local restaurants. The hotel is very lucky to have such a wonderful employee.

Dear Guest Relations Team, I am writing to formally document my experience during check-in and overnight stay on January 16, 2026, at Holiday Inn Express, which involved significant cleanliness, safety, and maintenance concerns. I am also writing to commend an employee who demonstrated exceptional professionalism under difficult circumstances. Check-In and Parking Concerns Check-in took an unusually long time, and the manager on duty was difficult to understand due to speaking very softly. When I asked about parking, I was given directions; however, the route to the parking garage appeared unserviceable and unsafe—especially for a mother traveling late at night with her daughter. This immediately raised concerns about guest safety. Room Cleanliness Issues Upon entering our assigned room, I observed dust bunnies throughout the carpet and dirt at the room’s entrance. I went back downstairs to report this to the same manager, who responded by handing me a vacuum cleaner. I was stunned by this response, but ultimately vacuumed the entire room myself. When inspecting the bed, I found the sheets had not been changed and were covered with hair. I again returned to the front desk and was given clean sheets, which I had to change myself. Shortly thereafter, my daughter and I prepared to shower, only to discover that the towels also contained hair. Intervention by Raja – Outstanding Service At this point, a new manager on duty, Raja, took over. Raja immediately provided clean towels without hesitation and listened attentively to my concerns. Unfortunately, when we attempted to shower, the shower diverter/plug was completely loose, preventing water from flowing properly to the shower head. Raja attempted to fix the issue promptly, and when it became clear the problem could not be resolved quickly, he immediately moved us to a new room and offered to assist with transporting our belongings. In the new room, we discovered the desk was missing a lamp, which was needed for my daughter to complete her homework. Raja personally replaced the desk to ensure adequate lighting. Final Remarks While my overall experience raised serious concerns regarding cleanliness, room readiness, and initial staff response, Raja demonstrated exceptional empathy, professionalism, and resilience. He showed genuine concern for my family’s comfort and worked diligently to correct each issue within his control. Hotels need more employees like Raja—individuals who take ownership, care about guests, and represent the brand with integrity. His actions were the sole reason our night ended on a positive note. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed, particularly the room preparation and initial response at check-in, and that Raja be formally recognized for his outstanding service.
