This hotel is clean and comfortable and in a great area. It’s just a few blocks from the Westlake Link station and an easy walk to Pike Place Market and plenty of restaurants and coffee shops. My teenage daughter and I felt comfortable and safe walking to and from the hotel. The rooms are spacious and I appreciated that the shower has strong water pressure and stayed hot. I’d recommend this hotel for anyone who’d like a great central base for sightseeing.

“I would not stay there again”

Great location with a clean comfortable room. I will never stay here again. There are two elevators, one was out of service the entire 5 days we were there with no signs of anyone working on it. The one elevator stopped working a couple of times. No microwave or coffee maker in the room.

The Paramount's location downtown is wonderful. Easy to walk to transit stops, museums, Pike Place Market area, ferry piers. The Paramount's location downtown is wonderful. Easy to walk to transit stops, museums, Pike Place Market area, ferry piers. Our eighth-floor, double-queen room was clean, spacious, with comfortable beds and bedding - we slept very well! Nice, fluffy towels in the bath. The staff are lovely. However, there is a lack of attention to details that is concerning for a hotel that bills itself as luxury/boutique and charges commensurate rates. The first thing we saw when we entered our room were torn/shredded drapes hanging at the window. (We notified the front desk in order to ensure we didn't get the blame for it. The response was, "Yes we know they're ripped." ) Not a good first impression. The 11-story, 146-room hotel has only two elevators. We were there three days in the middle of a busy FIFA World Cup week. Lots of traffic through the lobby. Both elevators were out of order at one point; for the rest of our stay there was only one in operation. Some crowded elevator trips were reminiscent of circus clown cars - how many peeved people can we fit in for this multi-stop trip? On our way to check out, our elevator stopped and we were trapped for several uneasy minutes until the desk staff got the car moving again. We checked with other guests and online reviewers and learned that the elevators are a recurring problem here, with some reporting having to walk up and down many flights of stairs (with luggage). That's unacceptable. Those are the fact-based concerns. A few other irritants are based on personal taste/expectations :( 1 ) There is no in-room coffeemaker. Coffee is offered in the lobby from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. So if you're willing to get up before 7 a.m., get dressed, and hope the elevators are working, help yourself. After 7 a.m. you're welcome to purchase coffee at the in-house Spruce Cafe. ( 2 ) Ice depot on our floor was out of order, so a trip to another floor for ice was required. Not a big deal. But note that these are not ice-producing machines. The staff bags ice and places the bags in chilled bins on each floor near the elevators. Probably a sanitation upgrade from standard ice machines. But if you get to your floor's bin when the bags are gone, be ready to hit the stairs to hunt for more on other floors (or call room service? ). (3) A final nit-pick: Plants in the lobby vestibule were sad little things in discount-store plastic pots that had been plopped into the dry soil bed, and by the parched look of them, haven't been watered in a while (yes, we're gardeners and noticed). Not a deal-breaker, but a detail that degrades the experience. We travel a lot and are really quite easy to please. We enjoyed our latest stay in Seattle (visiting family) and look forward to returning. We like to try different hotels, and feel we've given the Paramount a fair shake.

I wasn't sure what the rating for this hotel should be. It should probably be a 3.5, but since that isn't a choice, I decided to go with the lower number because I don't think AI would stay here again. The hotel has many fine points. It is clean and nicely decorated. It is very easy to get to from the airport by public transportation . Public transportation is easily accessible from the hotel, although most places that I wanted to visit were within a 15-20 walk from the hotel. Staff at the hotel were very pleasant. However, there were a couple of things which would make me reluctant to stay at this hotel again. First, one of the elevators was not working the four days i was staying there and there was no indication that it was being worked on This did slow down access to the one remaining elevator. Secondly, the curtains were ripped. Thirdly, there was no information about the city or that area of the city available in the room. But the fourth and most important reason I would not stay there again is because there was not coffee/tea station in the room and really no where to get this unless you went out of the hotel. It has been years since I have stayed in a hotel where there has not been coffee and tea either in the room or in the lobby of the hotel. I asked the desk clerk if there was anywhere to get some tea in the hotel at that time of night and she said no. I happened to have some tea bags with me, so she said I could go to the "gym" where the water cooler also provided hot water. She offered me a paper hot drink cup. I kept this cup for the other 2 nights I stayed there. I hope the hotel management will consider providing this service in the future for the convenience of their guests.
