We had a very nice long weekend with our children. Our experience with the hotel itself was subpar, however. The check-in process is atrocious. We arrived early as we knew we could use the waterpark prior to checking into our room. We arrived about an hour early and we were told our room was not yet ready but should be soon. About 20 minutes before check-in, I checked again (after waiting in line for 15 minutes) and was told the room still was not ready. I then returned after the check in time, and the line was through the lobby and down the next hall toward the banquet center. I waited in line for 45 minutes. Then they were able to locate a room for us. We checked into our room about an hour past check in time. Be extensive wait times for check-in sound like they are a common occurrence, the staff made it obvious that this is a daily issue. I do not know why attention has not been made to address this issue, such as a self check in kiosk for waterpark, visitors, or separate lines for hotel, guest, check-in versus waterpark, visitors, or additional staffing during busy check-in hours. 15 minutes after getting settled in our room, another family walked into our room. They had checked a second family into our room. This meant that now our room keys were not working, in addition to the invasion of privacy of having another family walk into the room.The staff did their best to amend the situation promptly, and I appreciate the kindness. You could tell this was a genuine mistake and not a common occurrence. With the exception of just a couple employees, the staff was quite kind. Our room was clean, fortunately, but you can tell that this hotel has not seen renovations in several decades. Many small details in the room were falling apart or fully broken. Nonetheless, our room was comfortable, and quiet, as we had a queen suite which gave us some room to separate from other hotel rooms in the hallway. Of course with this being a family focused hotel, the hallways were noisy all night long. Breakfast is overpriced for what is essentially a continental breakfast, but our kids did enjoy it. I did appreciate that our young son who is under three years old had a free breakfast. The waterpark is fun for young children, my suggestion would be to go immediately in the morning at 9 AM when it opens, else you will not get a seat or table. Attending the waterpark later in the afternoon, at which point the half-day passes are available, is very busy and makes for a overstimulating experience. But again, the kids had a great time. The arcade is a very fun option as well. Overall, I would not return to stay at this hotel for the price and overall experience. I expected more from a facility claiming resort status. I did appreciate the kindness of the staff, and they did reduce our bill due to our aforementioned incident. If we do return to the waterpark, I will plan on staying at a different hotel and buying a full day pass simply to use the facilities.
