Very clean and huge room. Fridge but no coffee making in your room. They have a coffee machine in reception where you pay about $3-5 for a really nice cappuccino. No breakfast here although I think they had certain things for sale, we went to IHOP up the road. Really, really comfortable bed and pillows with decent crisp cotton bedding, not the awful hot, satiny sheets they have in a lot of the American hotels these days. Highly recommend you go for an upstairs room, you feel there are elephants living above you if not, such a shame as it really is very noisy when people walk about. Lovely outside area with a fire pit in the evening.

What stayed with us most, though, was how the team showed up when things went wrong. Our car was broken into during our stay, which was a pretty awful and honestly traumatic experience. The staff were super helpful and supportive throughout, and we really appreciated the way they looked after us. It’s easy for a place to be great when everything is going smoothly, but you learn the most about a team when something goes sideways, and they were wonderful. One thing worth flagging for other travelers is to be mindful with your car and valuables here. The break-in itself was made much worse by the local sheriffs, who took over two and a half hours to show up, which was frustrating in an already stressful situation. That’s on the county rather than the hotel, but it’s useful to know if you’re relying on a quick response in the area. Despite that experience, we’d still recommend Field Station. The design is great, the vibe is fun, and above all the team genuinely cared. That counts for a lot.

Review We booked a room with a king bed plus bunk bed for our family of 2 adults and 3 kids. We stayed for three nights. The lobby area is stylish, with plenty of games. Our room was really spacious (except for the tiny bathroom). But the room design seems more suited for groups of young adults rather than for families with young kids. The furniture is folding camp-style furniture. No drawers in the room. The pool was basic and unheated. The hot tub was green. The hotel has fun outdoor areas with corn hole, bocce, etc. The biggest downside of this hotel is that they don’t seem to offer housekeeping. We asked about it on day 2 and the front desk said that housekeeping depends on staffing. She offered us a trash bag so we could empty our own trash cans. Housekeeping is the reason I chose a hotel instead of a home rental for this trip. So this was really unfortunate. We also were disappointed by the lobby cafe, which the website says is open from 7am-5pm and which has a nice menu posted. In reality, front desk staff have to handle coffee and food orders themselves, and if they are busy, they tell guests they won’t be able to make them food. I wish they at least had coffee available in the room, or self-serve coffee in the lobby, but they don’t. The lobby cafe was another detail that made me pick this hotel, but now I feel misled. There are no other restaurants nearby, so this added a lot of stress to our mornings. Ultimately, I would not recommend this hotel for families. We really wanted to like it but we had a disappointing experience.
