“We hopeful.”

We were very hopeful for this hotel. Going to start with the bad stuff. First off there is a lot of construction in the area This is not the fault of the hotel, but we requested a quiet area. We were very hopeful for this hotel. Going to start with the bad stuff. First off there is a lot of construction in the area This is not the fault of the hotel, but we requested a quiet area. They could have messaged to let us know about the construction. It does say soundproof in their ad. The walls dumped the sound from other rooms, but you can hear people in the hallway, next door, below and definitely through the window in the room along with the construction. The construction again is not their fault, but it is currently going from 7am to 10pm, so be advised you can hear it. We did request a room change to the other side of the hotel, but they would rather have you cancel your booking then be accommodating. The front desk girl offered to move us to a higher room, the next day, which we said would be great, but come the next morning at 8am, we were advised she gave it away already to someone else. The room would have been fantastic if a little run down, but the beautiful view out the very large corner window was obstructed by how dirty they were, not the inside but the outside. The TV was older and had a giant dark line through the middle from pixels being burnt out. This made it very difficult to watch anything. The bathroom had a horrible smell, like the kind that makes you gag. We resorted this out by closing the door, leaving the fan on with the bathroom window open to try and alleviate the smell. But it would still sneak back into the room and we would dread going to the bathroom or shower. Their cure for this was to pour chemicals down the drain under the sink. Guess its a common issue. One that they can not fix or won't as it could be expensive. The shower was nice and large. Problem there, if the sun isn't out to warm the water, you get to have cold showers, this happened the last 2 nights of our stay. There is nowhere to put your soap except the floor. Breakfast was included in our stay. Not a lot of Western options but we made it work. We enjoyed what we had. Problem here..... I watched the cook, take food off a finished guests plate and put it back into the buffet. This was our last morning there. Definitely not a sanitary option. The pool on the roof looked nice even though we did not use it. To cold for us. The small terrace was a nice place for a drink and the view. Would we stay again? Probably not. The location was great. The room was a place to rest our head and enjoy the view. Would we recommend the hotel to friends or family? No, not at this time.
