I have stayed in many hotels in Hoi An over the years, but this is the first time I can say the experience left me with no desire to return to this hotel. Hot water was not working in one of the rooms, and even where it did work, the temperature control was essentially non-functional — switching between freezing and scalding with nothing in between. The toiletries provided were surprisingly poor quality. The body wash and shampoo had an unpleasant smell and a very thin, watery consistency, to the point where we went out and bought our own. To top it all off, there was a persistent sewage smell coming from the bathroom that spread throughout the entire room, making it difficult to relax in what should be a comfortable space. Only two complimentary water bottles are provided per day, which is well below what most Vietnamese hotels offer. Additional water purchased in the room costs roughly three times what you would pay for a larger bottle outside — a noticeable nickel-and-diming that adds up. Morning coffee follows the same logic — lattes and similar drinks are not included and come at an extra charge. The room we were given faced directly into the infinity pool, leaving us with no real view. We would recommend requesting a different room orientation at check-in. To make matters worse, at checkout we were presented with a restaurant bill for meals we never had. The name and signature on the bill were not ours, yet it still took a lengthy discussion before the charge was finally dropped. Not a pleasant way to end a stay. That said, the hotel does have genuine positives. The pool is lovely and was a real highlight of the stay. Breakfast offers a decent variety and is generally satisfying. The reception staff deserve a special mention — friendly, attentive, and responsive to requests, which goes a long way. The hotel is also partnered with the Deck House, a good restaurant with a nice beach. There is a shuttle bus to get there, but the timing makes it practically useless — it departs at 11am, by which point the beach is already packed and finding a spot is a struggle. If you plan to go, arrange your own way there early in the morning. Overall, the hotel has the bones of something decent, but until the basic issues are properly addressed, it is hard to recommend.

We recently stayed at Legacy Resort Hoi An and overall had a pleasant experience, though there are definitely a few areas where the hotel could improve. Our room was spacious and beautifully positioned at the back of the resort, overlooking peaceful paddy fields and local houses – a really lovely, authentic view that made a big difference to our stay. The room itself was clean, well-maintained, and came with great facilities, including a fantastic bathtub. However, there were a few issues. The air conditioning wasn’t working when we arrived, which meant the room smelled quite damp at first. To the hotel’s credit, this was fixed the following day and the smell did fade, but the AC unit itself felt quite old, not very powerful, and difficult to properly adjust. One of the more unusual design features was a window above the room door, which lets in a surprising amount of light at night – including from a bright external light. It’s an odd choice given how important sleep is, though we did eventually find the switch for the light outside in the hallway, which helped a little. Privacy in the room could also be improved. The toilet is separated only by a frosted glass door, and you can still clearly see someone inside – a slightly awkward setup. The hotel itself feels well established but is starting to look a little tired in places. Small details like broken tiles and non-working lights suggest it could benefit from some maintenance and updating. Dining was probably the weakest part of the stay. The restaurant food was quite basic, bland, and overpriced for what it was, and service was consistently very slow. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, but everything was fairly average in quality. On the plus side, the location is excellent if you’re looking for peace and quiet. It’s about an hour’s walk into the Old Town, but only a short bike ride using the hotel’s free bikes, or around 10 minutes by Grab (roughly 50,000 VND). The beach is also nearby, and the free shuttle to both the Old Town and the beach is a great added benefit. The pool areas were a bit disappointing given the size of the resort. Loungers can be hard to come by, and the “infinity” pool area in particular feels neglected, with worn decking, wobbly panels, and even some exposed rusty nails. It’s also a shame the pool bar is no longer operational, although there is a phone to call for service. The second pool, while often shaded, is conveniently located near the main bar. One thing that really stood out, however, was the staff – they were absolutely fantastic throughout our stay and couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. A final tip: it’s definitely worth paying extra for a room with a view. Some rooms appear to face directly onto a brick wall near the breakfast area, which looked very enclosed and far less appealing. Overall: A relaxing stay with great staff and lovely room views, but let down slightly by maintenance issues and underwhelming food. Would I stay here again though? Yeh I would, it wasn’t a bad stay, just wasn’t luxury as they advertise!
